Miss India battle heats up

TOURISM Fiji's has scored a significant victory in its campaign to host Miss India 2011 - the bid already winning over an influential Indian entourage presently in the country as part of the promotion to bring the glamour event to Fiji.
Four days into their visit, the three reigning Indian beauty queens touring the tourism belt said they would strongly lobby Fiji's intention as they thought the country was well resourced to host such an event.
Winner of the coveted Miss India World Manasvi Mamgai was quick to point out that she was looking forward to a return trip.
"I definitely will be coming back - I have to crown the new Miss India," she remarked when asked whether she would ever consider returning to Fiji.
"Fiji is a great place and it is well resourced to host the event. I have been on so many excursions and had so much to see.
"One thing I can tell you is I have had so much fun. Fiji has a lot to offer and I myself will be taking back experiences that I have never had before. Tomorrow I go skydiving, something I have never before," the 22-year-old Delhi-born model said.
Miss India International Miss Neha Hinge, a software engineer by profession, was also impressed by what she had seen so far. "I will be supporting Fiji's bid because this country is truly an amazing place. It has a lot to offer and I have enjoyed the whole trip," the 22-year-old from Dewas in Madhya Pradesh said.
The well travelled Miss Earth Environment Nicole Faria said Fiji's bid gained ground the moment she met locals.
"You definitely can host Miss India and a successful one too. There is just so much to do and I just love the people. I have ravelled quite a bit and I can honestly tell you I have never experienced such warmth and genuine people. I was quite overwhelmed by the sincerity. It's a totally different and new for me and something I would like other people to experience," said the model from Bangalore.
