PFMIE 2010 came to an end yesterday in Kolkata with a scintillating grand finale. Three eastern beauties – Unnati Davara was crowned the winner by Pooja Chopra (PFMIE winner 2009 and PFMI World 2009), Rohini Mukherjee and Eram Karim were crowned the First and Second Runner-ups by Karishma Karnik (First Runner-up, PFMIE 2009) and Tulip Bhattacharya (Second Runner-up, PFMIE 2009)respectively . The announcement of the winners came amidst a glittering star-studded ceremony at the ‘Nicco Park Lawns’. The winner gets a direct entry in top 10 of Pantaloons Femina Miss India 2010 in Mumbai.
The capital of West Bengal raised its curtains on yet another glamorous culmination to the most sought after beauty contest of India. The eagerly awaited grand finale of the most prestigious and credible beauty pageant Pantaloons Femina Miss India East (PFMIE) 2010 received amidst with much fanfare.

The gala evening started with a bevy of beauties displaying their best on the ramp. The contestants showcased feminine and stylish creations by Pantaloons from their contemporary indo western fusion wear brand ‘Akkriti’. This ‘precious meets glam’ collection created a chic and sleek look with its rich, night and vibrant colours. With a blend of ethnic and modern fashions, the womanhood collection represented the spirit and aspirations of the contestants.

With the most beautiful women from the East walking the ramp, this stunning ‘kurtis’ worn with black ‘leggings’ complemented and completed their look with panache! The evening continued with cool and fresh breeze in the open lawn but ‘Mir’ the host of the evening did not agree to this, he said, “The breeze at the back stage is more hot because of our 12 star studded beauties.”

The second round saw the girls attires in beautiful ‘Gowns’ by ‘Agnimitra Paul’ which had unusual cuts and vibrant colours. The collection saw an elegant mix of bright and pastel shades. The straight cut long dress was added with a touch of embroidery and patchwork of nets and beads. Agni’s creation was apt for the Femina Miss India Woman – who is a woman of substance, independent next door girl, intelligent with a touch of elegance and sexiness. They are like flowers – here to bring a fresh breeze of new ideas and adding a new spirit and zeal to society.

There was an extraordinary collection for the finale round. ‘Anvesha from Palki’ presented primarily indo-ethnic one, consisted of saree with jewelled short blouses. The designs were an amalgamation of age old crafts and contemporary cuts. Keeping in mind the ethnic essence, traditional fabrics say benerasis, brocades, silks were used. The heritage fabrics were texturized with fancy dyeing and embellished with state-of-the-art using Mukaish, Dabka and Zardosi.

Each of the rounds were accessorized with exquisite jewellery by ‘Senco Gold’.

The grand finale was then followed by ‘Questionnaire Round’, Koena Mitra amongst the panel of judges asked Unnati Davara (Winner PFMIE 2010), “If you had to choose between beauty and intelligence, what would you choose and Why?

Pretty girl in ‘Red Saree’ replied with a broad smile, “Good evening ma’am, if I had to choose between the two, I would undoubtedly choose Intelligence. Beauty might fade away with time, but intelligence will always be there till my last breathe. Hence, intelligence will enhance my beauty automatically.”

”Very well said,” appreciated Koena with a huge round of applause.

Speaking on the occasion Designer Anamika Khanna, amongst the panel of judges said, “Madonna is beauty. I admire the lady even today. Hence, talking about beauty and glamour it is just ‘Madonna’ even today inspite of her age. ”

Koena Mitra, addressing the beauty pageant said, “Today’s time is easier and smart than before. I am proud of being here this evening, rather being part of this city. Kolkata has lot of talent."

Marc Robinson (Fashion director and Contestant Director) speaking on the occasion, “Femina Miss India is a lethal cocktail of beauty and brains. Over the years Indian fashion and beauty has evolved dramatically.” Hence, the show took off everyone into the world of shimmer, shine and glamour.
